Mission
Our mission is to carry out high quality strategic and applied research for the benefit of UK arable farmers, with particular emphasis on the sugar beet industry. Our role includes interacting with and acting as a link between the arable industry and the national and international biological sciences community.
Facilities
The purpose-built facilities at Broom’s Barn include molecular biology and micro-propagation laboratories, virology, microbiology and plant physiology departments including glasshouse and controlled-environment rooms. There is a 77 ha experimental farm with irrigation and plot covering tunnels for drought tolerance experiments. There are specialist facilities for field studies of pests and diseases.
