Further details
Rothamsted is able to provide some accommodation for students and visiting workers either on-site or close by. This is mainly at Rothamsted's historic Grade 1-listed Manor House, the former home of the Lawes' family, which can accommodate up to 48 visiting scientists. A limited number of one-bedroomed and family flats are also available on the estate and in Harpenden. For further information and to apply for accommodation, please contact Leona Pollock (leona.pollock@bbsrc.ac.uk).
The residences provide breakfasts and evening meals or offer self-catering facilities. Staff restaurants at Rothamsted Research provide lunches and a range of refreshments during the working week.

Rothamsted Research is located in Harpenden, about 25 miles north of London near the attractive Cathedral City of St Albans. Harpenden is a pleasant small town (population about 30,000) that is well connected by road and rail to London (30mins) and its surrounding counties. Four international airports are readily accessible from Harpenden.
Broom's Barn occupies a more rural setting in East Anglia. This is the main arable farming area of the UK and one of the main UK sugar-beet growing areas. Cambridge and Norwich with their well established universities are both easily accessible by road and London is 90 minutes by rail from nearby Bury St Edmunds.
