e-RA: The Electronic Rothamsted Archive

The electronic Rothamsted Archive (e-RA) provides a permanent managed database for secure storage of Rothamsted's long term experimental data. Together with the accompanying meteorological records, associated documentation and sample archive it is a unique historical record of experiments that have been measured continuously for over 150 years. Users have easy access to experimental data and specialist background information on the effects of agricultural practices on soils, crops and associated ecosystems.

The data held within e-RA is password-protected and may not be passed to a third party without written permission. This can be obtained by contacting the e-RA Curators. This data is available for scientific research but remains the property of Rothamsted Research and the Lawes Agricultural Trust. Access to data held in e-RA is subject to our Data Access Policy

New version of e-RA now available

The new version of the e-RA database and website e-RA is now available to Rothamsted users. We are in the last stages of moving away from the old website and database which is now unavailable for routine use. It is important for users to become familiar with the new version (e-RA), which now contains considerably more information, is easier to use and data extraction is faster than before. This new version of e-RA holds records of yields and other data for the Broadbalk, Hoosfield and Park Grass experiments updated to 2007. Meteorological data from Rothamsted, Brooms Barn and Woburn up to 2008 is also available.

Usernames and passwords for e-RA can be obtained from the e-RA Curators Claudia Underwood and Margaret Glendining who also welcome any suggestions, feedback or queries about e-RA.

e-RA in Transition - new passwords needed

Access to e-RA and old e-RA is by different usernames and passwords. If you wish to use new e-RA, you will need to obtain a new username and password from the e-RA Curators.

Datasets available through e-RA

This section gives information on which datasets are available in e-RA; further information is available from the e-RA Curators.
